Sexual abuse can happen to a woman, a man or a child. It can happen at any age. It can even happen within a marriage or other intimate relationship. But sexual abuse is never okay, regardless of the relationship.
We recognize that sexual abuse can be difficult to talk about; it can be embarrassing and feel humiliating. But please understand that sexual abuse is never your fault. Sexual abuse can take many forms. Here are a few examples:
Forcing you to have sex when you do not want sex (Rape)
Threatening you to get sex
Deliberately causing you pain or humiliating you during sex
Knowingly giving you a sexual disease or infection
Refusing to use birth control
Forcing someone to have sex who is unable to give consent
