Four new members were recently elected to the Esperanza Shelter Board of Directors.  Rose Griego-Kiel was elected treasurer of the board and brings more than 20 years’ experience in finance and accounting to the position.  Catherine Waldeck, an escrow assistant at Prima Title, LLC, was elected secretary of the board and has ten years of customer service and communications experience.  Elizabeth Morper and Kathy Segura-Salas were also elected as new members of the board.  “All of our new board members bring unique qualities and interests to the table, along with a passionate commitment to Esperanza” said Marcos Zubia, board president. “We look forward to working with them to strengthen Esperanza’s future.”

Laura Altomare was recently elected to the Esperanza Shelter Board of Directors.  Altomare, who is the chief communications officer at the nonprofit Homewise, Inc., leads the organization on all aspects of strategic communication including branding, public and media relations, investor relations, fundraising, community affairs, business development, and marketing.

Altomare worked 15 years in the financial services industry prior to joining Homewise.  She holds a B.A. in English Literature from Colorado State University, as well as Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She also holds certifications from the Soul of Money “Fundraising from the Heart” Institute and the NeighborWorks America Training Institute.

“We are delighted to have Laura join the Board of Directors,” says President Marcos Zubia. “We expect she will be a real asset to our communications and fundraising program.”
